Cutting Soft Cheeses and Sponge Cakes

Dental floss has its uses in the kitchen.

• Held taut, a length of unscented dental floss will cut through soft cheeses.
• Wrap a length of floss around a sponge cake, and then pull to cut the cake into neat layers.
